TIRE TECHNICIAN (MOTOR COACH) PAY: To be discussed during the interview. SHIFT: To be discussed during the interview. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks including receiving, branding, mounting and balancing, repairing, replacing, installing, and removing of tires and wheels. TYPICAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Repairs and/or changes motor coach, auto, truck, and other vehicle tires. Moves vehicles to and from parking areas and repair facility. Raises vehicle using hydraulic jack or hoist. Removes wheels using hand or power tools. Locates puncture of tubeless tire by visual inspection or by water immersion. Separates tire from wheel using hand tools or mechanical tire changer. Seals punctures in tubeless tires. Reassembles tires onto wheels. Balances tires and applies counterweights. Remounts wheels onto vehicles. May rotate tires. Maintains required tire records and files. Documents tire changes on work orders. Maintains an inventory of mounted and balanced tires for various motor coach specifications and wheel positions. Also may be required to perform other related duties as requested. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience: At least six months of practical experience as a tire repairer preferred. Skill at: Mounting, balancing, repairing, storing, inventorying, and issuing tires. Knowledge of: Use of tire changing and repair tools and machines, and related equipment and supplies. Licenses: Valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record that meets company standards. Special Requirements: None. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: o Must be able to obtain access to the interior and exterior, and to the wheels and tires of the vehicle, with the vehicle in any position. o Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle for moving vehicles to and from parking areas and repair facilities. o Must be able to use body members and/or tools or work aids to work, move, guide or place objects or materials off of or onto vehicle. o Must be able to sustain a workload consisting of exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally (occurring up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently (occurring 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly (occurring 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. o Must be able to read and comprehend safety rules, warning labels, instructions in the safe use of shop tools and equipment, inter-office communications and other related documents. o Must be able to comprehend and perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and simple fractions. Must also be able to perform operations with units such as ounces. o Must be able to communicate in person or by telephone in clear fluent English with co-workers, supervisors, parts counterpersons, vendors or other persons.
