JOB SUMMARY: Provides leadership and oversees the activities
Facilities and Utilities Engineering, Design and Construction
support group. Works with the Facilities and Utilities Engineering
Director to establish and prioritize the overall goals, objectives,
and initiatives in Design & Construction support group. Provide
leadership on the delivery of a multi-million-dollar portfolio of
projects for Facilities and Utilities.Establishes and maintains
cost controls to keep spending within Engineering's assigned
budget. Our Facilities/Utilities Engineering team is a true owner
of assets throughout the enterprise, and passionate
inter-departmental and intra-departmental collaboration and
communication enabling stability, predictability, and
sustainability for our facility and utility assets and Universal as
a whole. Ensures all engineering activities in the
Facilities/Utilities Engineering section shall be in conformance
with Florida Building Code, ASTM F24 Committee guidelines,
Universal Orlando GPS, compliant with applicable state and local
codes, regulations and standards including: FBC, DOT, SEI, AISC,
ACI, ASHRAE, ASTM, ANSI, NEC, and OSHA, among others.MAJOR
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads a team of professional engineers, and project managers in
performing activities related to facility, utilities and
infrastructure analysis and planning, engineering, and
construction, as well as operations and maintenance, providing
guidance and approval of technical approaches, products and
processes
- Responsible for the support group staffing assignments and
budgets are managed properly and effectively executed. Encourages
and promotes the efforts of Project Managers, Engineers, Associate
Project Managers and Planners in areas of scheduling, training,
coaching, counseling, rewards, and recognition to the extent
allowed by Company Policies and Technical Service guidelines.
Develops and implements succession planning within the support
group.
- Develops and implements integrated departmental plans, policies
and procedures and provides input on departmental business and
technical strategies, goals, objectives
- Coordinates and facilitates inter and intra-department partners
and external resources including: Attraction maintenance group(s),
Document Control, Environmental Health and Safety, Finance, Human
Resources, Landscape and Water Quality, Operations, Outside
Vendors, and Security. Maintain, and encourage within subordinates,
close and friendly working relationships, model by example.
- Ensures that re-engineering tasks, NDT inspections, and Quality
audits for the Rides and Attractions are performed to the highest
standards of safety, reliability, and quality. Ensures compliance
with all applicable codes, regulations and standards including:
AISC, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, AWS, JIC, NEC, and OSHA, among others.
- Manages spending to stay within assigned budget and provide
maximum value - Establishes budget controls within the support
groups to keep projects within assigned budget guidelines;
minimizes overtime worked. Identify and develop projects
requirements to create value, extend the life of our assets, and
reduce the burden of maintenance of our assets.
- Participates in applicable information sessions, design
reviews, staff meetings, safety meetings and other sessions that
assure and encourage communications, teamwork, and continuing
process improvement.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health
& Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy,
procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree from an ABET Accredited program in
Architectural Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, with a focus on Design and Construction of facilities,
utilities and infrastructure, or related field required.
- Master's in Engineering degree in same fields or Master's in
business administration preferred.EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years demonstrated experience in an Engineering Environment
focused primarily on the design and construction of facilities and
project management for the theme park or amusement park
industry.
- 10+ years leading teams of engineers and technical
designers.
- 10+ years of experience of interacting with other Engineering
and Maintenance Departments, as well as across multiple engineering
disciplines.
- 10+ years, of team building, leadership, and motivating
employees.
- 10+ years of project management, design construction,
renovation, rehabilitation of themed entertainment facilities.
- or equivalent combination of education and
experience.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Current, Active and without disciplinary actions, Registration
Professional Engineer in the State of Florida is required.
- Valid Florida State Driver's License is required.
- Completed the Advanced Florida Building Code course, on the
seventh edition of the Florida Building Code.ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION:Required:
- Strong analytical skills with a logical approach to problem
solving, troubleshooting capabilities, a team player, organized,
and self-motivated.
- Experienced in the Architectural, Engineering and Construction
industry.
- Experience in the management of contract construction documents
and specifications.
- Knowledge of construction delivery methods.
- Knowledgeable of materials, material properties, and
characteristics, especially CRES.
- Communication skills in oral, written memos, reports and
drawings.
- Intimately familiar with in ASTM regulations applying to theme
parks.
- Has experience interacting with other Engineering and
Maintenance Department disciplines.
- Has experience performing project management functions
especially in the areas of technical compliance, scheduling and
budgeting.
- Proficient using the following software: Microsoft (MS) Excel,
Word, Project, Planner, Power BI, Teams, Power Apps. Bluebeam or
equivalent Portable Document Format (PDF) software. Autodesk
AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks preferred.Preferred:
- Proficiency in structural engineering design with experience
integrating design & re-design processes of facility and utility
component systems and related mathematical calculations.
- Experience/proficiency with facility and mechanical control
systems.
- Proficient in knowledge of DIN standards.Your talent, skills
