Facilities & Safety at the University of Central Florida is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Material Handler l position. Duties of the position include but are not limited to:

* Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment.


* Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory which is received for processing. Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or recipient.


* Contacts tenants to pick up and sign for deliveries. Maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records. May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment.

* Processes and/or notifies EH&S of any Hazmat or Radioactive shipments in accordance with EH&S policies. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, objectives and safety standards.


* Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.


* Responsible for organization and maintainability of "Shop Stock" warehouse. This includes but is not limited to labeling of material with part numbers and pricing when available.


* Maintains and keeps clean receiving area and service yard.


* Performs other duties as assigned including required university, division, and departmental trainings. May be asked to assist other Facilities Operations areas in times of personnel shortages or emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience. The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years of experience in a logistics, warehouse, or mail room setting.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Position requires a valid Class E driver's license (regular license). The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct university business.

Must possess or be able to obtain a Class A powered lift truck certification within 90 days of hire.
