The Opportunity

The Digital Accessibility Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accessibility of digital content by conducting audits, documenting issues, collaborating with the team, and contributing to a more accessible online presence for content managed by the Executive Communications team.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and maintenance of guidelines, checklists, how-to documents, and web-based resources to support an accessible campus.
  • Build webpages and manage content updates within WordPress.
  • Respond to user-reported accessibility issues.
  • Work with users and developers/vendors, if necessary, to determine and document a solution in a timely manner.
  • Develop processes for evaluating technology assets, platforms, and services for their ability to comply with accessibility standards.
  • Develop reporting to monitor and assess departmental accessibility efforts.
  • Conduct web, document, and third-party vendor accessibility testing against WCAG standards and federal requirements.
  • Assist with document and web remediation. Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications:
      • Working knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
      • Familiarity with standard web markup languages and best practices (HTML/XML/CSS).
      • Interest in learning and applying new technologies.
