Job Description:

Busy Law Firm in Downtown Orlando is seeking a Legal Assistant to perform a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of paralegals.

*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*

- Working knowledge of computer applications including database software, Word, Excel, Power Point

- Able to speak clearly and concisely with confidence over the telephone and in person

- Possess the ability to communicate with others effectively, listen closely and convey points clearly

- Able to communicate courteously and professionally over the telephone, in person or via email

- Able to effectively write reports and correspondence

- Possess a working knowledge of court and computer systems to obtain information, file information and perform research

- Able to communicate with other team members constructively to reduce conflict and enhance the resolution of issues

- Able to respect client dignity and confidentiality

- Able to always present oneself as a professional

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

One to three years of related experience, working in a law firm or legal department

*REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*

- Possess the ability to multi-task and balance the needs of several Attorneys and Paralegals

- Maintain calendar for Attorneys and Paralegals by scheduling and following up on meetings, appointments, depositions

- Organize files, monitor calendars, and meet deadlines

- Draft, file and serve legal documents

- Assist in preparing and obtaining case related documents

- Maintaining the client file in a case management system

- Prepare deposition and mediation notebooks

- Prepare and maintain spreadsheets

- Process mail by opening, scanning, and linking to case management system

- Prepare check request and process invoice payments

- Perform scan and copy jobs

- Act as backup to reception as needed

- Perform follow up on tasks in a timely manner

- Solve problems and deal with a variety of variables with direction

- Be comfortable working with sensitive material, and able to maintain confidentiality guidelines

- Possess the ability to adjust to constantly changing workloads

-Knowledge of personal injury or worker's compensation law a plus

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
