Serves as a representative within the IT governance structure to establish and recommend strategies, and high-level priorities for Valencia's College's enterprise information systems.

Essential Job FunctionsDescription of Job Function1. Collaborates with the department leadership team to create/implement plans, policies, procedures, processes, and strategies for the support of the College's enterprise applications.
Description of Job Function2. Provides front facing support for all applications including interacting with functional techs and power users. Manages the secure, efficient and stable functionality of all applications, interfaces and related software. Audits support performance to identify gaps and proposes solutions. Manages maintenance and upgrades of applications as needed.
Description of Job Function3. Manages the Enterprise Application Support team's functions including hiring, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and professional development. Encourages team to develop professional and technical skills on an on-going basis to advance the skill set and knowledge base available for application support.
Description of Job Function4. Provides a support perspective to Application team for the implementation and planning of new software applications and systems. Ensures thorough testing of current and new applications to comply with quality assurance standards.
Description of Job Function5. Performs needs assessments, establishes team priorities, plans and assigns projects and responsibilities to direct reports and other technical staff. Keeps direct reports, other managers and stakeholders well informed of timelines, issues, changes, project status and other relevant information.
Description of Job Function6. Leads the development of business continuity plans, develops testing and support plans to ensure all systems are brought on line quickly in the event of a system failure or loss. Drafts and develops policies, procedures and documentation required to assure appropriate use, support, back-up and recovery, security and overall administration of applications and systems.
Description of Job Function7. Establishes and leverages vendor relationships, works collaboratively within and outside the department, and serves as a representative to all internal/external stakeholders to effectively identify/resolve problems and facilitate accomplishment of objectives.
Description of Job Function8. Provides technical expertise for operations support for existing and new applications. Serves a key role in evaluation of new application acquisitions and implementation from a support perspective.
Description of Job Function9. Creates and provides documentation of support process for new applications. Provides training on applications supported and associated processes and procedures as needed.
Description of Job Function10. Available after College's business hours to provide 24 hour on-call support for mission critical systems.
Description of Job Function11. Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Required Field of Study
Other Required QualificationsIn lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a combination of education and experience may be substitutable.
At least 3 years of experience in software application administration or software application security, Windows or Linux System Administration.
Management or supervisory experience of software application support or administration staff.
Experience developing and implementing change management procedures and guidelines.

Experience with one or more systems such as Learning Management, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Image/Document Management and Website/Content Management .

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge and/or applied skills and abilities in Webserver administration, programming languages and/or software development frameworks.

Ability to work with minimal supervision both independently and as a member of a team

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels, including senior leadership, clients and the College community.

Ability to define and analyze problems, collect data establish facts, identify solutions, draw solid conclusions and make recommendations in support of goals.

Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to effectively resolve or escalate issues to management or vendor support areas as necessary.

Ability to handle multiple assignments through prioritization and time management, and effectively document and communicate status of projects and issues to management, vendors and Information Technology personnel.

Ability to meet deadlines and achieve and maintain expected productivity levels.

Ability to respond to common inquiries, complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community with professionalism, enthusiasm and superior customer service

Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, systems and software and adapt to change on an ongoing basis.

Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.

1 Ability to travel between campuses may be required on an occasional basis.
General Working ConditionsThis job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus.
