Under general guidance, the FHDI Outpatient Manager is responsible for outpatient diabetes patient education and care management programs and operations to ensure quality, efficiency and patient satisfaction.  Responsible for supervision of clinical educators.  Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of applicable local, state and federal agencies and regulatory bodies.  Provides oversight for all aspects of ADA recognition at all sites and ensuring National Standards are met and maintained at all times.  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility for maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.  



· Provides management and supervision of clinical aspects of diabetes education and care management operations including coordinating multiple program scheduling and delivery to ensure appropriate service availability. 

· Oversees delivery of diabetes patient education and care management services.  Strives for patient satisfaction through excellence in customer service and by quickly and correctly investigating patient issues or complaints, resolving or referring to Senior Manager or appropriate hospital department.

· Analyzes referral processes and develops and implements marketing strategies for improving referral processes for education program services

· Participates in strategic planning, marketing and budget.

· Supervises all clinical and care management support staff include hiring, evaluating, and discipline.

· Participates and assists with corporate projects and contracts including development, implementation and operation flow and activities that impact the front office or clinical staff operations.

· Participates in process changes as a result of performance improvement activities.  Accurately documents and monitors activities as needed.  Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. 

· Provides group and individual comprehensive diabetes education and therapeutic lifestyle coaching as needed to meet the needs of the department.

· Responsible for the oversight of the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) at all sites in order to maintain ongoing American Diabetes Association recognition at all times

· Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth services operations.  Shows a willingness to accept new responsibilities and adapt to potential department changes.  Accepts and profits from direction and constructive feedback.



· Advanced knowledge of diabetes and adult diabetes patient education

· Clinical and non-clinical department management

· Ability to communicate effectively, organize daily activities and manage others. 

· Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Access. 

· Ability to work with people of various backgrounds. 

· Ability to work under stress and deadlines. 



· Skilled in the use of specialized diabetes equipment.

· Knowledgeable in systems and change processes.

· Skilled in communication, collaboration and conflict resolution.

· Skilled in customer service processes and recovery




· Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Dietetics or Human Nutrition

· 3 years’ experience in diabetes specialty

· 1 year of management experience


· 5 years of experience in diabetes specialty

· 3 years management experience


· Current licensure with Florida Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and Florida Department of Health dietitian/nutritionist license

· Current Certified Diabetes Educator
