Team Overview

The Design Engineer - Electro-Mechanical Engineering will be a key member of the product development team developing LiDAR systems. Knowledge of a comprehensive design process and the ability to perform CAD design tasks within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment using solid modeling CAD tools.

The candidate will develop precision electro-mechanical/opto-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems from concept to high-volume production. This team member will evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services. The candidate shall also be able to work within a broader program team and be able to manage multiple activities while communicating across functional boundaries to solve problems and achieve common goals.


  • Developing products to automotive standards and qualification methods
  • Provide design integration for harnesses and PCB's
  • Design and development of lidar and sensor systems
  • Perform the CAD design and coordinate from engineering into production
  • Daily engagement with all other engineering disciplines, NPI, quality, and commodity management
  • Coordinate and support analysis including structural, thermal, and statistical tolerance
  • Lead subsystem design
  • Coordinate engineering changes with manufacturing
  • Report progress and status to engineering and management staff
  • Produce documentation to industry standards
  • Independently manage schedule

Minimum Qualifications

  • MUST have experience engineering in high-volume (within automotive, lidar, or complex consumer electronics)
  • Wide breadth of design experience utilizing many different materials and fabrication processes including but not limited to plastic injection molding, or die casting
  • Minimum of 7 years of CAD experience with SolidWorks, Catia, Creo or NX
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading design, test and engineering activities with multiple team members
  • Experience in formal problem-solving methodology and associated tools (e.g. DFSS, 8D, Shainin Red X)
  • Bachelor's degree in ME/EE, related STEM discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with IATF 16949
  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 experience
  • Experience with automotive sensors
  • Experience with structural and thermal analysis
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM Professional vault
  • Opto-mechanical and electrical design experience
  • Demonstrated design for six sigma (DFSS) experience
