Job Summary:

Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions (Adventures & Expeditions) are immersive, guided travel experiences designed for the curious to explore the world's greatest destinations.

The Senior Manager, Trip Operations, leads and manages a regional land and cruise Trip Operations team for both brands, which handles all logistics and associated finances for a broad portfolio of travel programs operating around the globe. You will manage the profitability and operational excellence of the portfolio and oversee negotiations, contracting and costing. You will communicate with all levels of internal Cast Members, as well as external partners, and third-party vendors and suppliers.

You will maintain quality and standards set forth by the Company. Successful collaboration with other departments within Adventures & Expeditions, and functional partners, is essential.

In this role, you will report to the Director, Trip Operations - Land & Cruise.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead regional Trip Operations team, and oversee domestic and international trip logistics on hundreds of annual departures; troubleshoot anticipated and real-time logistical issues; modify and enhance itineraries.
  • Manage the creation of operational agreements and negotiations for costs and terms/conditions with global suppliers, oversee annual costing of large portfolio of repeat programs, and prepare RFPs.
  • Manage costs to maintain and maximize profitability and provide correct and complete trip finances, including budgets and reconciliations.
  • Develop business initiatives and strategize team procedures. Work with other team leaders to create processes that enhance seamless transition of information across departments.
  • Build partnerships with key stakeholders, including team members, Guide Operations, Trip Development, Human Resources, Global Security, Legal, Risk Management, Marketing, Sales, Call Centers and Finance.
  • Conduct administrative tasks and inspections: Participate in ongoing meetings (inventory management, strategy), vendor visits, and itinerary travel.
  • Give presentations on behalf of team.
  • Support and develop a team of leaders and indirect reports through 1:1 meetings, team meetings and mentoring/development. Provide performance reviews.
  • Participate in team hiring.
  • Monitor risk around the globe and partner with Global Security to make decisions about traveler safety and communication plans.
  • Participate in 24-hour emergency phone coverage: managing, staffing and procedures.
  • Assist staff with troubleshooting real-time issues.
  • Collaborate on development of CRM on behalf of team, determining priorities and working with developer to build needed functions and implement changes.
  • Oversee all data entered to standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant travel industry experience in leadership roles
  • Domestic and international destination experience
  • Willing to travel on short notice; scope and frequency will vary, up to 10% of the time
  • Maintain an open and positive perspective that reflects superior products and services for The Walt Disney Company
  • Experience managing individuals and teams, some in remote locations
  • Motivate and mentor a diverse workforce; communicate information in a clear and simple manner to people around the world whose first language is not English
  • Excellent planning and project management skills
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Ability to anticipate work-related problems and find creative solutions for challenging, time-sensitive situations
  • Comfortable with budgeting and P&L analysis
  • Ability to organize and prioritize while working within strict time constraints
  • Experience with Apple and Microsoft products; familiarity with QuickBase or other CRM software

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
