Job Description:

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides general nursing care to the patients within the LPN scope of practice and following all standards of care and facility requirements.Primary Functions1.Greet and room patients promptly and with courtesy2. Take full vital signs, as well as height and weight at each office visit3. Explain procedures to patients to allay apprehension and gain cooperation. Have patient fill out appropriate paperwork before each procedure.4. Administer prescribed medication, injections and treatment in accordance with approved nursing technique, within scope of practice5. Prepare equipment and assist medical provider during treatment and examination of patient6. Chart accurately and promptly in the EMR7. Initiate patient education plans with patient and family8. Rotate among various departments and office sites as needed9. Keep exam rooms prepared, cleaned and stocked; empty biohazard waste10. Help maintain efficient patient flow through communication with healthcare teams11. Answer telephone and messages in a timely manner within 24 hours12. Monitor desktop and send patient letters / make phone calls daily13. Answer patient questions as needed and within scope of practice14. Complete 48-hour chart check daily and fill-out appropriate logs as indicated 15. Make lab and specialty appointments for patients16. Respond to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocols within the scope of nursing practice17. Complete other duties as assignedEducation and Experience1.High school diploma or equivalent2. Completion of accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program required3. Current Florida License, active and in good standing4. Current CPR certificationKnowledge, Skills and Abilities1.Understand and strive to maintain teamwork2. Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams3. Ability to demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detail4. Ability to work under pressure5. Possess a good working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records6. Computer competency
