Software Engineering Manager (W2, direct hire, no visa sponsorship)Overview: Kelly Services-- is seeking a dedicated and passionate Software Engineering Manager to lead and grow our client's Software Development team. This is a direct hire role for a well-established, but still growing, technology-oriented company in Orlando area. All candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States and not require visa sponsorship or transfer, now or in the future. Summary The Software Engineering Manager will oversee the software development function and people leadership aspects for specific software products and applications. This role will build and implement development plans and collaborate with other departments to prioritize software development needs including design, development, and documenting and testing new and existing software. The Software Engineering Manager will evaluate results within his/her team to determine if organizational objectives are being met. This person will also analyze and resolve software development issues and needs in terms of the software's full life cycle. This person will manage all engineers in the Orlando office, working with the Director of Engineering to define professional development goals and establish the company culture for engineers in this location. MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (please do not apply unless you meet ALL): ? A minimum of 7 years of experience as a hands-on software developer? A minimum of 2 years of management / supervisory experience? Demonstrated, recent, hands-on experience developing web applications with Python (on Linux), Angular, and AWS (or another cloud platform)? A minimum of 2 years of experience working in an Agile environment Essential Duties and Responsibilities: People Management:? Manage individual team member professional development? Manage individual team member workload and progress? Manage projects and initiatives prioritized by the team Product Owner? Manage coordination of resources among projects Leadership by Example:? Champion and participate in value delivery through Agile, Scrum and Scrumban processes? Apply your 'one team, full system, whole product' perspective and thinking to lead ownership of architectural integrity, code quality, development project execution, service and support, and releases? Build for quality through code reviews, support of continuous integration and test automation, and the burndown of technical debt? Define, estimate, code, review, test and document solutions for feature development, maintenance and refactor initiatives? Install and maintain your individual development environment? Uphold software development processes and standards Support:? Lead tier-3 support of a SaaS-based enterprise product (client issues, performance, data integrity, integration with related applications)? Handle issue triage independently and by coordinating the efforts of the right team members? Communicate solution measures with affected departments (Support, Systems, other Product teams) Communication:? Communicate ideas, problems and solutions effectively with the Director of Engineering, other engineers, and across other teams? Engage other engineers in healthy collaboration about code and processes? Act as a cross-department communication point person for innovation, continuous improvement and issue status, causes and resolutions Competencies:? Demonstrated experience with agile development and software development life cycles? Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining enterprise SaaS software? Experience with a noSQL persistence layer? Understand and troubleshoot the application stack (Python, Angular) and infrastructure on AWS? Exposure to the Redux design pattern? Understand, configure, and optimize a full text search? Troubleshoot an application from all angles (client issues, performance, data integrity) Education and Experience:? Minimum 7 (seven) years of experience in a software product development environment? Minimum 5 (five) years of experience designing, building and supporting end-to-end web-based systems for enterprise applications? 3+ years of professional development in Python on Linux? 1+ years of professional development in Angular? 2+ years of experience with AWS.? Minimum 2years as a software engineering manager including professional development and performance management? Experience with enterprise software development, maintenance, and processes? Experience problem-solving with large, complex web-based applications? Experience with enterprise, web-based data integration including transactions, full CRUD and ETL across business applications? Experience as a software development project leader including project planning and execution, staffing, tasking and reporting? Experience with Agile processes, especially Scrum, Scrumban, or Scaled Agile (SAFe)? Experience with testing frameworks, unit testing and continuous integration (CI)?
