IT Systems Administrator Sr
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To supervise and advance the IT security program
including planning, scheduling, coordinating, reviewing and
reporting the work of the department; to develop and implement
standards and relevant processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs advanced, specialized and/or managerial tasks related to
data security and protection; performs critical project management
duties in the planning, scheduling, coordinating, reviewing and
reporting of the work of IT security teams; and provides expertise
in IT compliance standards and performance criteria, data security
requirements and information technology skills.
Defines, validates, and assists in system and software architecture
and design to ensure that assets are appropriately secure at all
times.
Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data
residing on or transmitted to/from/through enterprise workstations,
servers and other systems and in databases and other data
repositories.
Advises on applicable encryption methods to secure data at rest and
in transit.
Develops and maintains productive internal and external stakeholder
relationships; communicates with company management clients,
carriers, vendors and other stakeholders as needed during IT
security activities.
Directly interacts with clients and other external stakeholders in
critical or sensitive communications regarding IT security.
Responds to client and legal counsel inquiries regarding IT
security matters.
Teaches, trains, and coaches staff and creates appropriate
awareness programs within IT and the enterprise.
Identifies and communicates changes in professional and industry
standards, laws, guidelines and audit requirements to department
and enterprise personnel.
Consults with and advises administrators, management and staff on
various operational control issues related to computerized
information systems as needed; attends and/or conducts internal and
external meetings; and leads recruitment and hiring of IT security
colleagues.
Attends, presents and/or participates in continuing professional
education classes and training courses.
Follows up on audit findings to ensure that management has taken
corrective action(s).
Conducts or supervises IT forensic investigations as required.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supports the organization's quality program(s).
Travels as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows
company staffing standards and training recommendations.
Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development
plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.
Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote
maximum performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or
other related field from an accredited college or university
preferred. One or more of the following certification(s) preferred:
Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP),
Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM), GIAC Leadership
Security Certification (GSLC), or GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner
(GCFE).
Experience
Eight (8) years of related experience to include two (2) years
lead/supervisory experience in a team environment or equivalent
combination of education and experience required.
Skills & Knowledge
Excellent understanding of data security concepts and their
applications
Excellent knowledge of IT data protection and security technologies
and forensic investigation and investigation procedures
Strong understanding of Enterprise-wide security architecture
Thorough knowledge of IDS/IPS, SEIM, log management, patch
management, vulnerability management, eDiscovery, virtual machine
security
Thorough knowledge of security architecture, policies & standards,
risk management, incident handling and response, information
classification
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to a
non-technical business audience, clients/partners, and
executives
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including
presentation skills
PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
Analytical and interpretive skills
Strong organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proven management/leadership skills
Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate and
constructive written reports
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
