The team is responsible for the underwriting and administration of a large portfolio of commercial loans. The portfolio consists primarily of C&I and secondarily of CRE credit facilities all over $5M in exposure. This position will lead and develop a team of three Portfolio Managers and three Credit Analysts while also personally managing a small loan portfolio. The position reports directly to the market president.Key Responsibilities Include

  • Direct customer facing partner with the Relationship Manager (RM) on daily interactions of both new and existing customers. Portfolio Managers (PM) contribute to the development of profitable long term credit interactions that include in person customer calls, site visits, phone calls and emails. The PM should be a primary customer contact along with the RM.
  • Prioritizes new credit requests and renewals for the team. Recommends appropriate credit structure and is expected to be an expert in policy and provide guidance on policy issues and risk ratings. Is expected to contribute and participate in client meeting with the credit risk approver and the RM.
  • Leads the preparation of the credit approval packages, including working with and providing guidance to the Credit Analyst (CA) where necessary throughout the credit memo and approval systems. The CA is responsible for completing the credit memo and approval systems.
  • Leads the legal documentation process, working with attorneys and/or internal loan closers. This also includes reviewing all draft and final legal documents to ensure final credit approval and documentation are the same.
  • Monitors the portfolio for pending loan renewals, reporting requirements, past dues, documentation exceptions and the like to ensure that all requirements are met and exceptions cleared on a timely basis. This is also a shared responsibility of the CA.
  • Partner and support the Senior Credit Officer and Senior Bank Management in achieving desired results of loan quality, profitability, and growth, while maintaining an overall satisfactory score for ongoing internal credit risk reviews.
  • May have credit lending authority based upon past credit experience, market knowledge and commercial banking tenureQualifications Include
    • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Business / Accounting / Finance preferred.
    • 3-5 years of experience required; 6-10+ years of experience preferred.
    • Possesses a strong understanding of the current business environment and the ability to take initiative utilizing developed problem-solving skills.
    • Ability and knowledge to mentor and develop less experienced Credit Analyst's, PM's and RM's.
    • Strong knowledge of credit policy and analytical abilities to be a resource on credit issues.
    • Prior credit authority is preferred.
    • Diverse experience in credit types.
    • Strong leadership skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Goal and production oriented.
    • Strong relationship building skills
    • Must be organized and detail oriented.
