Evenings AdventHealth East Orlando seeks to hire a Diagnostic
Medical Sonographer who will embrace our mission to extend the

Facility Profile: AdventHealth East Orlando, a 293-bed full service
community hospital that serves as one of AdventHealth's seven
satellite facilities, became part of the AdventHealth system in
1990. At AdventHealth East Orlando, we strive to improve our
patients' quality of life through a holistic approach to health
care- mind, body and spirit - while remaining at the forefront of
medical innovation. During the past ten years, we've invested more
than $122 million in facility improvements to serve the growing
community. Among the recent additions and openings, we have an
expanded emergency room, a center for Medical Simulation and
Education, a Children's Emergency Center, a Renovated Cancer
Institute, and a new 40-bed inpatient nursing unit. The hospital is
also home to the AdventHealth Orthopaedic Institute at East Orlando
as well as a comprehensive urology program.
Department Profile: AdventHealth East Orlando provides imaging
services to our community in a wide range of modalities, including
MRI, CT, Ultrasound, DXA, Mammography, X-ray, and Nuclear Medicine.
Our department is comprised of over 100 highly-skilled team members
that include technologists, schedulers, radiologists, nurses,
medical records, and other support positions. We are proud to
feature two 1.5 Tesla MRI machines, three CT scanners, as well as
multiple X-ray and Ultrasound units. Conveniently located in the
Medical Office Building on the East Orlando campus is the Women's
Health Pavilion specializing in Outpatient Screening and Diagnostic
Mammography, Ultrasound, and DXA services. Our goal is to create a

Work Hours/Shifts: Full Time, Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs; 11:00am -
Job Summary: Under general supervision performs General Sonographic
procedures in accordance with department protocols. Actively
participates in outstanding customer service and accepts
responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally
respectful to all. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance
Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local,
state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
- Abdomen, Abdominal Doppler, OB/Gyn, Small Parts, and
Interventional Sonographic Procedures
- Ability to learn and master new tasks related to the computer
and AGFA Pacs system
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of
- Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment (Preferred)
- Good organizational skills (Preferred)
- Breast sonography (Preferred)
- Pediatric and Neuro sonography (Preferred)
- Arm and Leg Venous Doppler (Preferred)
- Graduate of Ultrasound Program
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field
(Preferred) Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- A minimum of the following two American Registry for Diagnostic
Medical Sonography (ARDMS) specialty examinations:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Abdomen
- AND Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) -
Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) Job Responsibilities: Demonstrates

- Consistently obtains the highest quality scans possible in
relation to patient body habitus and/or NPO prep status as observed
by Radiologists, Ultrasound Educator, and Ultrasound Manager.
Always follows proper exam protocols as outlined in department
Policy and Procedure manual. Utilizes two patient identifiers to
confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam.
- Reviews all images on Ultrasound machine or IMPAX (PACS) and
thoroughly fills out Ultrasound worksheet in a timely manner.
Rescans patient as requested by Radiologist. Is open to critique of
exams by Radiologist and/or department Manager/ Educator.
- Completes exams in a timely manner. Properly and consistently
evaluates patient prep status and schedules exam accordingly.
Demonstrates ability to coordinate acceptable patient throughput in
either an IP and/or OP setting keeping the department on schedule
and maintaining desired productivity. Follows direction from
Manager and Lead Sonographer. All FT and PT dayshift/weekday
employees must participate in the System back up call
- Utilizes computer system to update exam status, cancel/update
orders as needed. Ensures charges match procedure completed.
Confirms proper exam/patient assignment at QC before releasing
images to PACS for interpretation. Corrects erroneous accession
numbers in PACS when needed. Notifies Radiologist Facilitator (RF)
and transmits required worksheet and requisition for all
after-hours cases. Effective knowledge of all Information Systems
used in the Ultrasound department.
- Operates and maintains Ultrasound equipment in a safe manner.
Adheres to all infection control standards. Employee job duties may
include handling and disposal of hazardous material (Hazmat) waste.
Employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to
handling Hazmat waste) and refresher training to include proper
handling and disposal of Hazmat waste, and proper selection, use
and disposal of personal protective equipment. Follows guidelines
for proper use of GUS unit. Washes hands before and after every
- Performs a full range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures and
operates all ultrasound equipment in assigned department. Is
willing and able to rotate between multiple campuses/US departments
as needed. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills for age-specific
factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on
patients of all ages (neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult,
and geriatrics). The knowledge and skills are acquired through
in-service, continuing education and/or experience. Demonstrates a
willingness to learn/adapt to new technologies and protocols and
help develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and

Contributes toward process improvement by serving on PI teams as
assigned. Participates in department patient satisfaction
