Summary and Qualifications POSITION SUMMARY: The Throughput Manager
manages patient flow through the hospital and supports clinical
coordination of care across the continuum. Responsibilities will
include developing length of stay (LOS) and resource reduction
strategies, as well as capitalizing on facility best practices. The
manager will also ensure that improvement opportunities are
appropriately channeled to effect change, coordinate compliance
initiatives with outside agencies, intervene with the hospitalists
and PCPs to address and resolve issues related to facility
utilization and patient flow process and facilitate strong working
relationship between caregivers, case management, and admitting
departments to promote effective utilization management through
coordination of efforts involving patient flow. GENERAL
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Evaluation and implementation of patient flow
to ensure maximization of the hospital resources. - Continually
evaluate, monitor and improve the patient flow program
effectiveness as it relates to utilization review, resource
management, and discharge planning and care coordination. -
Establish patient flow goals in coordination with hospital
executive management and monitor progress toward the goals through
tracking tools such as NATE, ED dashboard and TeleTracker. -
Facilitate the on-going training and education of staff to meet
regulatory, hospital and department policies, as well as,
completion on staff evaluations in accordance with hospital policy.
Ensure staff practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct”
philosophy, “Mission and Value Statement” and the “ICARE”
standards. - Supports the leadership of the observation / overflow
unit during times of volume surge and capacity constraints. -
Coordinate flow responsibilities with the case management to ensure
all patient flow needs of the hospital are met and to ensure
similar policies and procedures are in place, as applicable. -
Serve as the educational leader to physicians and employees as it
relates to utilization review, resource management, patient flow,
multi-disciplinary rounds and hospital throughput initiatives and
projects. - Demonstrate understanding of HCA’s “Patients First”
safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and
procedures. - Performs other related duties as assigned or
required. What qualifications you will need: - Basic Cardiac Life
Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date -
(RN) Registered Nurse - Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
