RN - Orthopedics Trauma - DayPosition Summary
Our Orthopedic Trauma unit is a 20 bed, challenging, fast-paced
unit, which provides services to orthopedic trauma patients.
Patient diagnoses commonly consist of falls, fractures, crush
injuries, traumatic amputations, gunshot wounds, and motor vehicle
accidents.
Our Orthopedic team fosters a culture of safety and an environment
of teamwork, effective communication,and positive attitudes while
we work to exceed our customer's expectations and provide them with
the highest quality, compassionate care possible. Staffing is based
on synergy and acuity with a goal ratio of
6:1 for nurses and nursing assistants in the care-pair model.
Scheduling is done through Kronos, an online self-scheduling
system, in 6-week blocks. Each team member is expected to work
about 50% of the weekends during each schedule period. Weekends for
dayshift are Saturday and Sunday, whereas weekends for nightshift
are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Staff are assigned to holidays
for the year and rotate bi-annually.
Orientation is individualized and modified to meet the needs of
each new team member. All new hires attend a weeklong hospital
orientation their first week. Graduate nurse orientation is usually
an additional 11 weeks, experienced nurse orientation is an
additional 5 weeks, and nursing assistant orientation is an
additional 2-3 weeks.
Qualifications
Education/Training
* Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
* Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency
requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department.
Licensure/Certification
* Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC
multistate RN license.
* Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
* ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP
required for Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU).
Experience
* None required
