All within a 'living laboratory' of groundbreaking, research-driven clinical solutions that integrate mind, body and spirit in the defeat of illness and disease The role you'll contribute:-- Primary responsibility is the provision of medication distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks, which includes but is not limited to assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, and regulatory compliance. Performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs. Accurately responds to medication dispensing requests, prepares medications for pharmacist final review/check, delivers checked medications, and returns unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The value you'll bring to the team: ------- --Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in standard work parameters, hospital and pharmacy specific computer systems, and operational programs ------- --Maintains operational expertise and competency in, and actively provides coverage of at least two of the following:--

  • -- --Central/Distributive operations
  • -- -- Sterile compounding
  • -- -- Decentral/ Automated Dispensing Cabinet delivery pharmacy operations
  • -- -- Controlled substances handling-- ------- --Participates in appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems. Maintains expertise in electronic medical records processed and accurately interprets records.-- ------- --Supports automated dispensing cabinet inventory management and maintains proficiency to trouble shoot cabinet issues ------- --Accurately completes medication inventories and accurately prepares and dispenses patient-specific medication doses. Prevents improper drug, dose, dosage form selection, expiration dating, and barcode scanning issues when checking products ------- --Understands how to handle process and appropriately dispose of all waste materials, including all levels of hazardous waste, within the department. Knowledgeable about the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Hazardous Medication Spill Kits in the event of a hazardous medication spill. QualificationsWhat You Will Need: Required:
    • Starting January 1, 2011 must have 1500 hours work experience under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or must have completed or be enrolled in a Board of Pharmacy approved training program OR
    • be a graduate of a non-US college of pharmacy
    • Must be registered with the State of Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician
    • OR
    • possess a Florida Pharmacy intern registration as a non-US school of pharmacy graduate Preferred:
      • Some knowledge of medical terminology
      • Must demonstrate skills in aseptic technique
      • Hospital experience as a technician
      • Oncology admixture experience
      • High School graduate or G.E.D. certification.
      • Current PTCB or ICPT certification -- Job Summary: -- The technician will be responsible for but not limited to the following:-- Assists the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medication. Prepares sterile products such as IV solutions, piggyback containers, and cytotoxic drugs, irrigations, TPN's, epidurals, prefilled syringes, reconstituting of medications under aseptic conditions. Accurately reads and enters medication orders into the pharmacy information system. Keeps work area and equipment clean and neat. Helps with drug distribution Helps in the training of pharmacy technician I, II and newly hired pharmacy technicians. Accurately refills Pyxis MedStation; accurately conducts inventory of Pyxis MedStation and accurately loads and unloads medications to/from Pyxis as directed by the Director or Supervisor. Assists IV pharmacist with recording and distribution of large and small volume IV solutions. Performs all necessary tasks related to front reception area. Performs all duties necessary to provide for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs.-- Serves the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients. Specific age groups are identified in the position responsibilities. Handle a high volume of work with minimal direct supervision. Perform all level I and II job function and maintains performance standards/expectations. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
