Unit Highlights:
* Want to be a part of an exciting team! Learn-Do-Teach on the
Multi-Systems PCU. This 24-bed Multi-Systems PCU has a diverse
adult population with a 4:1 nurse-patient ratio, and the potential
for internal career growth.
* We encourage our nurses to grow professionally by providing free
educational opportunities and educational resources to grow. Many
of our nurses hold national certifications, participate in the
nurse practice council and the professional excellence program,
while others have grown into leadership roles. As a nurse on this
MSPCU Oncology unit you will be an active member of an amazing
multifaceted team with the opportunity to develop skills related to
the Oncology specialty, including becoming Chemotherapy
certified.
* Nursing on our MSPCU Oncology unit consists of caring for
patients with a diagnosis ranging from heart failure to renal
failure, complex diabetic patients requiring IV drips
(Glucommander) and Oncology. MSPCU Oncology has been deemed the
dedicated Oncology unit. A core group of RNs serve as our
Chemotherapy Certified Nurses. We are part of AdventHealth Cancer
Institute, which serves more cancer patients than any other health
system in Florida. We provide a comprehensive continuum of services
ranging from disease prediction and prevention to treatment and
research in all forms of cancer for our Oncology patient needs -
including but not limited to administering chemotherapy, blood
transfusions, and managing post chemotherapy oncologic side
effects.
* As a unit we pride ourselves in providing high standards of care,
collaboration and great teamwork among our interdisciplinary team.
Our team consists of nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners,
patient care technicians, health unit coordinators, pharmacists,
respiratory therapists, care managers, social workers, dieticians,
physical, speech and occupational therapy, and spiritual care
services. The team works together to create an environment where
comprehensive whole body health care is provided to all patients
and families. Unit Medical Director round are conducted daily to
ensure our patients receive coordinated care and are safely
transitioned out of the acute care setting.

* During the past ten years, we've invested $122 million in
facility improvements to serve the growing community. Among the
recent additions and openings, we have an expanded Emergency Room,
a Center for Medical Simulation and Education, a renovated Cancer
Institute. Currently we are renovating our 24 bed ICU to a 40 bed
Critical Care Unit that can take both intermediate and ICU level
patients, we have invested in the newest technology for innovative
safe care of our most critical patients.

The role you'll contribute:
The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing
and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care
responsibilities to identified age specific groups. Utilizes the
nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating)
in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Adheres to the
AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and
regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and
accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer
service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships
that are equally respectful to all.

* Nursing Knowledge: Demonstrates the ability to assess and
interpret diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition,
including, but not limited to lab results, non-invasive monitoring
data and interdisciplinary team notes. Nursing practice reflects
the application of knowledge and skills pertaining to all
diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment
associated with unit patient population.
* Patient Safety: Nursing practice reflects the application of
knowledge, skill and adherence to all pertinent regulatory
standards. Follows strict infection prevention precautions. Adheres
to policy and procedure regarding all aspects of medication safety.
Practice reflects importance of patient teaching and takes
advantage of opportunities, both planned and unplanned, to carry it
out in accordance with plan of care.
* Communication: Promotes an exceptional patient experience by
abiding to compassion and image standards and fostering excellent
nurse-patient relationships through effective/therapeutic
communication with the patient, family, and visitors, including but
not limited to and as applicable, hourly rounding. Exhibits ability
to utilize appropriate techniques, verbiage, and resources in all
interactions with the patient to their level of understanding.
Communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team by completing
thorough hand off communication in all situations. Follows chain of
command when appropriate.
* Documentation: Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the recording
and accessing of all patient information in electronic medical
record according to policy and in real time. Performs appropriate
and legible documentation, recording all procedures and assessments
within established timeframes, and in accordance with standards of
care, departmental policy and practice guidelines.
* Terms: 24 month Full-time Employment Contract Required for
Sign-On and Relocation
Sign-on Eligibility:
* Applicable experience required.
* Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not
eligible.
Relocation Eligibility:
* Must live 50 miles outside of campus address.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
* Graduate of a school of nursing
* Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a
Registered Nurse
* Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
* Advanced Life Support Certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) per
specialty/unit requirements
* EKG
Preferred qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Nursing
* Professional Certification
