Job DescriptionThe Vice President - Safety and Security is a
critical member of Signature's executive leadership team, providing
partnership and support to the operating team as well as other
functions within Signature on key elements of safety leadership and
accountability. This role will also have direct leadership of
Signature's safety team which is comprised of safety process and
compliance experts deployed globally. They are responsible for the
global Security team who lead facility and asset protection
efforts, and they will also lead the Safety Assurance audit
functions and audit teams. There is strong alignment on the
management team to differentiate Signature through improving safety
performance. The company seeks to be an industry leader and
ambassador of best practices. The successful candidate will work
closely with business and functional leaders throughout the company
to drive safety and implement a culture of continuous improvement.
They will have responsibility for Safety and Security assurance
programs for Signature Aviation, EPIC Fuels and Signature
TECHNICAir maintenance businesses. An immediate objective for the
successful candidate will be to analyze current performance and
make recommendations to leadership for safety strategy, support
structure and process improvements, both short term and long term.
Also, ensuring Signature's existing Safety Management System (SMS)
aligns with FAA expectations with a long term goal of continuous
improvement towards 100% incident free operations due to practical
application of safety standards. He/she will interface closely with
Field Operations leaders and Training teams to facilitate the
implementation, execution, and communication of the SMS and related
principles. They are also expected to evolve to distinct and
effective approaches to address both asset and personnel
protection. The Vice President - Safety and Security will be both a
strategic resource and a hands-on manager, personally driving the
company's policies and practices. He/she will be responsible for
continually raising safety awareness, promoting best practices,
driving execution and results, and providing thought leadership.Job
Responsibilities
- Provide support and direction to the Executive Leadership Team
on Safety and Security goals, processes, and priorities
- Lead teams involved in Safety and Security process development
and execution across the business
- Serve as an Ambassador for healthy, safe and compliant
practices by being regularly present and visible in the operations
and modelling behaviors that reinforce Safety as a core cultural
tenet
- Provide leadership, support and training to build programmatic
technical, management and leadership skills pertaining to Safety
and Security globally
- Coach operations leaders and support programmatic development
efforts to enable them to successfully execute their leadership
responsibilities for Safety and Security
- Provide consultation and influential support of various
cross-functional initiatives that have the potential to impact
Safety performance
- Use data and input across the organization to establish
"Cardinal Safety Rules" for the organization
- Partner with Training and Development to implement both
technical and leadership-based safety curricula
- Work closely with Operations leaders to set priorities, improve
processes and leverage lessons learned
- Effectively develop executive-level presentation materials for
regular reporting on safety and security performance
- Lead a cultural shift within Signature to drive positive safety
outcomes as a core element of operational ambition
- Manage relationships with representatives from all operational
departments, regulatory authorities/governing bodies (FAA, NTSB,
ICAO, etc.), key customers and other relevant constituents
- Maintain documentation in accordance with FAA, EASA and other
agency standards
- Ensure hazard identification, analysis, and resolution, and
open reporting are core behaviors implemented in each
operation
- Provide input on capital allocation to assure regulatory
requirements are met and an adequate work environment exists to
achieve excellence in Safety and Security performance, including
collaboration with the Facilities and Procurement teams
- Monitor emerging Safety and Security legislation in
jurisdictions where the company has operations to communicate
impact and ensure timely compliance as required
- Interface with Legal staff to develop strategies to minimize
legal risk from operations and assist with on-going litigation
- Model leadership behaviors that reinforce Safety Management
System (SMS) objectives and support Signature's stated safety
goals
- Implement, administer, measure, audit and evaluate hazard
controls and incident control programs
- Provide expertise to accident investigations, associated
corrective action and future risk assessment, working with
HR/Training, CI, Legal and other teams to apply learnings to
improve future operational outcomes Job QualificationsMinimum
Education and/or Experience:
- A seasoned business leader with 10+ years of multi-site Safety
and Security experience within the aviation, transportation, or
related industries (ex: geographically disparate/multi locations,
dynamic environments, large hourly workforce and safety-critical
operations)
- Previous experience successfully implementing and executing an
International Air Transport Association (IATA) - compliant Safety
Management System (SMS), or equivalent
- Expert knowledge of U.S. Safety and Security regulations and
standards; solid familiarity with international Safety and Security
regulatory frameworks
- Experience working with regulatory authorities/governing bodies
(FAA, NTSB, ICAO, etc.) and related organizations
- Demonstrated effective interaction with regulatory agencies and
senior business leaders
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred Key Attributes:
