Disney Parks, Experiences & Products (DPEP) Technology & Digital is the organization that creates, develops, and maintains the technical solutions for the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. This role focuses on the Guest and employee facing systems used for retail and restaurants.As Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will be leading initiatives within the Retail and Restaurant portfolio to deliver customized Guest facing mobile applications, employee-facing tools, and underlaying systems and platforms used. This role will be pivotal in delivering in a continuous delivery model to enhance key products such as Mobile Order and Merchandise Mobile Checkout. You will also play a large role in evaluating off-the-shelf software solutions and designing software solutions for capabilities specific to Disney. This role will be responsible for leading estimation, planning and oversight of the technical development being performed by both internal and vendor led teams. You will work closely with leadership within Technology, Business and Finance to understand strategic goals and objectives and deliver the technology solutions that meet those goals. You will also work closely with Security and Compliance to ensure that processes, systems, and ongoing development are meeting all compliance requirements and guidelines.Agile delivery is the methodology employed by the teams. It is critical that this role can build teams that scale capacity to meet delivery timeline demands. As the leader over an Agile team, you will be regularly expected to lead team meetings and facilitate the escalation and removal of team blockers. You may also be the primary point of contact for internal business and vendor partners.In addition to leading day-to-day activities for team deliverables, you will be responsible for developing technical strategies and financial forecasts for tools, applications and infrastructure and presenting those proposals to senior leaders. This work will mean collaborating with the architecture team, business partners and end users. You will drive recommendations/decisions for buy versus build, vendor and product selections, and infrastructure.JOB RESPONSIBILIIES:

  • Champion best practices and strategic thinking.
  • Directly oversee, mentor, and develop the technical staff and supervise the technical deliverables of the developers.
  • Participate in the broader DPEP Technology & Digital community and strive for products that are created in a platform-centric manner.
  • Motivate teams to produce quality results within challenging timeframes and ongoing change.
  • Provide technical leadership to retail and restaurant technology and digital organization engineering and cross-functional teams
  • Thinking big, bold, and broad, without being constrained by existing norms or business models.
  • Enabling an inclusive culture that recognizes diverse backgrounds, points of view, and cultural histories to fuel innovation and belonging BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 6+ years of managing development teams.
    • 4+ years hands on development experience.
    • Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science/Engineering preferred), or equivalent experience.
    • Prior extensive hands-on development experience in one of the following: Native Android (Java/Kotlin) OR Native iOS (Swift) OR Backend (Java/Kotlin)
    • Experience with web-based technologies using Java, Javascript, HTML and relational databases.
    • Experience with the design, implementation and consumption of SOAP and REST Web Services.
    • Proven success working on and leading large-scale software solutions that span both hardware and software integrations. (both custom solutions and off-the-shelf solutions requiring many system-to-system integrations)
    • Experience with big data, machining learning and AI desired and managing systems requiring PII and PCI compliance processes.
    • Experience with systems leveraged in food and beverage and/or merchandise desired.
    • Solid understanding of connectivity technologies, web hosting, advanced network protocols, client-server technologies, applications development and multi-vendor environments.
    • Experience deploying and integrating with cloud-based solutions (e.g. AWS, Azure, vendor packages)
    • Experience working within a large technology or Internet company.
    • Knowledge and experience with distributed systems, their development, operations, observability.
