Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks an experienced Systems Engineering Manager for a fast-paced, growing and dynamic position to support our MDMC Operating Unit (OU) located in Orlando, Florida. Northrop Grumman is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex systems for the US Department of Defense.

We are seeking a Manager, Systems Engineering 1, to support the MDMC OU Satcom Systems Engineering Section Manager. This role splits time between serving as a Systems Engineering Manager for Systems Engineers within the department and as a individual contributor/technical lead supporting engineering activities on one or more assigned programs.

This position will be located in Orlando, FL. Relocation assistance may be available for this position.

Systems Engineering Manager responsibilities include:

• Managing and guiding Systems Engineers
• Setting objectives and then monitoring and reviewing yearly progress for your team
• Workload management for direct reports
• Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring
• Semi-annual performance assessments of your team members
• Assisting team members with career development
• Collaboration with other OU Section Leads and Engineering Managers, supporting overall execution of IMS based programs
• Program reviews, PMRsBasic Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or related field; 3 years of experience with a Masters' degree; 0 years of experience with a PhD
  • 2 years of experience in any combination of Systems Engineering, Integration and Test engineering disciplines.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance investigated within the last 5 years.Preferred Qualifications:
    • Engineering background in Systems Engineering including deriving hardware and software requirements and designing, developing and testing systems
    • Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated aptitude for analytical problem decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, solution implementation, metric development, and metric evaluation
    • Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills
    • Satcom Engineering experience.
    • An ability to showcase the company's capabilities to existing and potential customers to support business development activities
    • Experience working in an Agile framework
    • Experience with U.S. Government contracts Salary Range: $108,000 USD - $140,000 USD
      
      Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
