DIRECTOR OF SALES JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for developing and facilitating business from markets to ensure the necessary advance bookings needed for a successful and profitable operation. The Director of Sales will be responsible for the overall sales and marketing initiatives of the TownePlace Suites Tampa Clearwater.


--- Responsible for the overall sales effort to achieve current year financial goals and set plans for future years

--- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals both booking and actualized goals

--- Complete quarterly plans and actions

--- Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers to include sales calls, trade shows, site visits, outside sales calls, presentation, and entertainment

--- Attend industry events including networking lunches, dinners, trade shows, site visits, outside sales calls, presentations and entertainment

--- Use negotiating, communication, and creative skills to close on business sales opportunities

--- Know and understand strengths and weaknesses of individual property and local competitors

--- Complete and maintain neat, accurate, and organized sales reports, files, and history

--- Utilize computer systems to accurately quote availability and rates for guestrooms, food and beverage, and meeting space

--- Utilize computer systems to track bookings, productivity, customer contact and booking/account notes, and traces


--- Manages and motivates staff (including: hiring, firing, performance management, and recognition duties).

--- Assess staffing needs, and recruit staff using methods such as newspaper advertisements or attendance at job fairs.

--- Schedules staff working hours. Recommends overtime, approve time cards for staff and forwards to director for payroll preparation.

--- Enforces staff and conditioning room policies and procedures.

--- Recruits, trains, schedules and evaluates subordinates according to established club procedures.

COMPETENCIES - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Strong revenue management skills required; Entrepreneurial drive is a must; Motivate and manage a sales team; Proven ability to shift market share.
