Job Description:
Position Summary: The Assistant Director for Student Employment
is a full-time staff member within the Center for Career & Life
Planning (CCLP) whose primary responsibility is to manage the
campus-wide student employment program at Rollins College. This
responsibility includes the creation and posting of on-campus
student employment positions, along with the onboarding, outreach,
policies, and procedural flow aspects of the student employment
program. In addition to managing the college-wide program that
employs over 700 students annually, this position has a focus on
helping student employees gain meaningful career skills and
experience in their on-campus jobs. The Center for Career & Life
Planning supports the Rollins College mission of empowering
students and alumni to pursue meaningful lives and productive
careers. The Center is committed to educating, guiding, and
connecting campus and community partners through robust career
development and career experiential learning programs. The CCLP is
made up of two functional units: Career Development and
Experiential Learning. The Assistant Director for Student
Employment is part of the Experiential Learning Team and reports to
the Director of Experiential Learning. The Rollins Student
Employment mission is to develop student employees by creating
meaningful employment experiences through job exploration,
professional training, mentorship opportunities, and the invitation
to reflect, assess, and actively enhance their learning. Creating
and Posting Student Positions Partner with Human Resources,
Finance, and campus departments to manage student positions and
coordinate the creation of new student positions, graduate
assistantships, and summer student temp employment. Explain budget
considerations to departments creating new student positions.
Audit, collect and maintain accurate and current job descriptions
for student jobs. Collaborate with the Offices of Financial Aid and
Finance to manage the work study and Frueauff budgets for the
College, as well as project future costs and increases. Manage the
student on-campus job posting process, serving as the point-person
for hiring departments on campus, providing training and assistance
to supervisors posting positions and hiring students, and reviewing
and editing all on-campus job postings submitted by departments to
ensure that they are accurate, consistent, and provide sufficient
detail. Promote and track student job postings to ensure that
student jobs are filled in a timely manner, and that student
applicants receive appropriate follow-up. Manage, assess, and
enhance employment practices, policies, and procedures by
collaborating with HR, Payroll, OISSS, Financial Aid, Title IX, and
Finance and by staying informed on best employment practices and
regulation updates. Processing New Hires & Reporting Manage the
student new hire paperwork process for domestic and international
students, adhering to federal regulations and Rollins College
requirements. Manage work study, department-funded, graduate
assistant, and Frueauff student hires, transfers, and releases in
collaboration with HR, Financial Aid, and partner offices.
Coordinate and process bulk stipend payments for note-takers,
Sandspur contributors, and tour guides on a semesterly (2x) basis.
Manage the grant-funded Frueauff Student Employment program,
tracking student engagement and professional development, providing
career-related resources, and supervising the Experiential Learning
Frueauff Student Employee. Provide student employment reports
including: number of students working on campus, number of student
jobs posted, number of applications submitted by students, number
of new hires completing paperwork with the Center for Career & Life
Planning, etc. Provide comparative data over three years to show
program growth. Education and Training of Students and Supervisors
Familiarize and educate student employees and employers with the
policies and procedures of student employment at Rollins College,
as well as federal regulations. Provide career support for students
interested in working on campus, helping them to explore open
positions and advising them on application and interview best
practices. Support current student employees with making
connections between the skills they gain in on-campus jobs and
their future career goals. Coach, advise, and partner with
employees and managers on best strategies for improving
communications/behaviors/relationships and finding solutions to
workplace conflicts. Implement, track, and critically assess the
Student Employee Learning Outcomes Assessment which measures
student development in regards to transferable skill articulation
and identification of professional strengths and weaknesses. Manage
response rates, communicating with student employees and
supervisors to increase participation. Other Responsibilities Hire,
mentor, and supervise graduate assistant and student workers to
assist with Student Employment work. Manage, plan, and promote
recognition and celebration programs including Supervisor of Year
and National Student Employee Appreciation Week on an annual basis,
coordinating daily events and prize drawings. Support the Center
for Career & Life Planning with outreach presentations, student and
alumni career development appointments, and document reviews when
needed and as availability allows. Represent Career & Life Planning
team and Rollins at various professional associations, panels and
meetings as necessary. Education and Experience Required This
position requires a bachelor---s degree. A master---s degree in
human resources, counseling, college student personnel, or a
related field is preferred. A minimum of two years of relevant
experience is required. Strong written and oral communication
skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong
critical thinking skills, ability to deal with ambiguity, resolve
complex problems, and effectively identify alternate solutions.
Experience managing high-volume programs and balancing analytical
processing with a people-centered approach. Ability to interact
effectively and professionally with department constituents
including staff, employer contacts, students, alumni, faculty and
parents, while establishing and maintaining positive working
relationships. Awareness of legal issues as they pertain to
employment practices within the US. Understanding and familiarity
with multiple areas of professional development pertaining to
career exploration, application and interview processes, including
job searching, resume and cover letter writing, and interviewing
techniques. Ability to analyze and streamline processes by thinking
creatively to leverage technology in innovative ways. Knowledge,
skill and proficiency in using a variety of computer software
programs (example: Word, Excel, Access), and in learning multiple
new software systems. Ability to create and maintain logs, files,
and records with a high degree of accuracy. Service excellence
focus with commitment to meeting the unique needs of students,
alumni, campus employers, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Must
be flexible to work some evening and weekend hours. Special

Cover Letter/Resume Salary in the low $40ks plus generous benefits
