Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control is seeking a
Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. From ultra-precision
machining and additive manufacturing to the development and
production of complex optical components and sophisticated
electronic systems, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC)
utilizes the latest capabilities in manufacturing to produce some
of the world's most advanced weapon and sensor technology.
--- The Manufacturing Engineer will work in a fast-paced production
environment supporting manufacture and coating of cutting edge
optical components using advanced manufacturing equipment and
technology. This exciting work will include the opportunity to work
hands on with products and provide technical guidance and support
to technicians and operators to facilitate optimal performance.
--- The engineer will develop and execute manufacturing process
plans for optics component manufacturing, continuously improve
processes and plans using tools and methods such as statistical
process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE), and
conceptualize, design and execute tooling requirements using
ProE.
--- The engineer will have the opportunity to identify root causes
and corrective action of technical production problems and develop
re-work instructions as needed.
--- The engineer will have the opportunity to participate in and/or
lead process improvement teams and other small project technical
teams, and travel in support of business, as needed.
--- The engineer will support the development of formal
manufacturing technicians and operators training courses and may be
required to perform OJT training of supervisors, other engineers
and operators.
--- The engineer will continuously learn and apply a wide variety
of engineering techniques, will contribute to projects in a teaming
environment and will investigate, transfer, and adapt processes,
techniques, or methods to new applications.
--- The engineer will assist with capital improvement projects to
include new systems
--- The engineer will support and have opportunity to lead
non-recurring projects through the entire lifecycle from design and
prototype through production.
--- The engineer will interact with optical design engineers to
support producibility assessments of current and future
products.
--- The engineer will have the opportunity to stay up-to-date on
the latest advancements and best practices in the field of optics /
thin film coatings manufacturing.
Our role will have unique hours due to the high level of activity
going on in our business. The engineer will start their second
shift at 1:00 PM and will have to opportunity to overlap with first
and second shift technicians and first shift engineers as well as
our second shift engineering team. The engineer will train for a
few months during dayshift hours and will move to our second shift
once she/he is sufficiently proficient.
This position will offer the opportunity for occasional domestic
travel.

Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing
Engineering, Optical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics,
Chemical Engineering or closely related technical field.
-Manufacturing Engineering Experience
-Experience developing, designing tools for and troubleshooting
manufacturing processes.
-Microsoft Office software experience is required.
-Willing/Able to work 2nd shift hours of 1pm to 11:30pm.
-The ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance is required.
Desired Skills:
-Two or more years of related experience
-An MS level technical degree in Mechanical Engineering,
Manufacturing Engineering, Optical Engineering, Materials Science,
Physics, Chemical Engineering or related technical field.
-Skills and/or experience in one or more categories of optics
manufacturing engineering: Single Point Diamond Turning, Optics
Fabrication, Optics Metrology.
-Candidates with optics fabrication or single point diamond turning
specialization, with knowledge of visible and IR lens manufacturing
including some or all of the following; Precision Grinding, Single
Point Diamond Turning, Interferometry and/or MagnetoRheological
Finishing (MRF).
-Breadth in skills and/or experience across multiple disciplines of
optics manufacturing engineering.
-Experience in advanced optical metrology, including the use of
Computer Generated Holograms (CGH) and/or stitching interferometry
for aspheric surface metrology, white light interferometry for
non-contact surface profiling, and high precision contact
profilometry.
-Continuous improvement experience
-Experience working in a production environment.
-Knowledge of relevant military and ISO optical specifications.
-Strong verbal & written communications skills
-Strong analytical skills
-The ability to work effectively as an individual and in a team
environment is required.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated
with this position will be performed onsite at a designated
Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate
work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our
employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day
work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules
provide employees with additional time away from the office and are
in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
