Technologies has an immediate opening for full-time TECHNICAL
PUBLICATIONS SPECIALIST to support upcoming programs and
projects.Under the supervision of the Project Engineer and Chief
Engineer, the Technical Publications Specialist will support the
engineering function in controlling, tracking, reviewing, technical
editing, and establishing technical reports, brochures, and/or
manuals for internal documentation, customer reference, or external
publication.
- Must be able to research and evaluate available internal and
external technology tools, resources, and literature to aid in
collecting, maintaining, tracking, controlling, and retaining
technical documentation.
- Must be able to collaborate with content providers within and
across functional departments. Review newly created or edited
content for publications with appropriate resources, and coordinate
with other functional departments the reproduction and distribution
of materials.This position will be based out of our headquarters
located in Oviedo, Florida and requires an onsite office presence,
with a Monday - Friday hybrid work schedule (Currently 3 Days in
Office/ 2 Days Home).Starting Salary Range $50,000-$70,000
(depending on experience)Responsibilities Include:
- Create, maintain, and manage a documentation system which
classifies and organizes technical publications for systematic user
access and tracking. Classifies and codes technical documentation.
Communicates and provides training to technical publication content
providers on system access, design, and objectives. Communicate
documentation status to management and team members
- Control and organize technical publications and content
material submitted for creating or editing new or existing
technical documentation
- Establish timelines for content input and follow-up with
content providers to ensure timely publication of technical
documentation
- Edit and complete writing assignment according to a set of
standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and
terminology. Maintain records and files of work and revisions;
select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to
illustrate material
- Assist in laying out material for publication; and arrange for
typing, duplication, and distribution of material
- Incorporate content into documents in an established or defined
format while ensuring a professional look, grammatical accuracy,
comprehensibility by users, and orderly layout. Technical
information content may be generated by engineers and other
technical experts from existing source documentation, notes,
drawings, or manuals containing operating procedures and
details
- Collect, edit, and write publication content for standardized
reports, manuals, briefs, or proposals, and related technical
publications related to contract(s) and company operations;
including but not limited to, operational methods and procedures,
installation, and maintenance of software and equipment or
products
- Conduct training for content providers and management users on
the classification and coding system for technical
documentation
- Assist in technical editing of other documentation, brochures,
processes, and other projects in support of other business or
operations initiatives
- Research a variety of resources to aid in the development of
technical documentation such as manufacturers' catalogs, drawings,
sketches, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and historical
references such as archived manuals, notes, etc.Required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or
training
- A minimum of five (5) years of related experience in
maintaining and controlling documents, creating, editing, and
coordinating content requirements for technical publications,
manuals, or other company resource documentation
- Experience with US Department of Defense (DoD) documentations
and standards
- High-level competency with Microsoft Office products;
particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Capable of obtaining and maintaining US Department of Defense
(DoD) secret security clearance
- US Citizenship is requiredPreferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge in MS Outlook and MS Project
- Competency with configuration management and collaboration
tools (e.g., Share Plan, Vault etc.) and/or other documentation
control and retention resources
- Technical writing capability with respect to training systems
(e.g., Operational Flight Trainers, maintenance trainers etc.)
and/or processes (e.g., AS9100, CMMI, ISO 9001 etc.) Other
