JOB SUMMARY:--The Staff Accountant - Commercial supports the Project Accounting Manager, provides day-to-day accounting tasks, and supports project cost controls. This position will process, coordinate, analyze, review, compile, and monitor project costs, as related to the assigned large-scale commercial development projects. This position will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of monthly job cost reports for the assigned projects working within the company's established processes and procedures. This position will engage with the project management team and vendors. This position will use Sage 300 CRE and Sage Paperless extensively. Will routinely work at both corporate and jobsite offices in Orlando.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, it will be required to work independently, have an analytical approach, be detailed oriented, able to multi-task, and interface with project management team members, vendors and others. Must be able to perform in each essential duty satisfactorily.Main duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following:* Processes invoices & pay applications for project management approval in SAGE Paperless Construction ensuring proper job/cost/commitment coding, contract amounts, prior billed & paid amounts and reimbursable expense support is illustrated.* Frequently updates project control systems in SAGE 300 CRE for new and revised directives, change orders, amendments and events that affect project cost and/or schedule, ensuring data is entered accurately and consistently.* Actively participates in scheduled meetings and frequently communicates with the project management team to determine and identify potential changes/events that should be included in project control systems, noted above.--Regularly prepares event logs for review by project management team.* Reviews, tracks, and updates contractor/consultant compliance including lien waivers, insurances, licenses, etc.* Interfaces with project management team members, vendors, and other company personnel playing a part in a variety of department initiatives.* Assist in the preparation of the Commitment, Job Cost, Estimated Final Cost ("EFC") and the Upside/Downside Reports and other job cost-related information.* Review and analyze transactions from job cost and accounts payables to ensure they have been accurately coded and recorded. Identify, investigate, resolve and/or report on discrepancies.* Work with the project management team on investigating and reporting any variances on a continuous basis.* Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsThe ideal candidate must have the following skills, knowledge, ability, experience, and education:* Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Finance, Business, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.* Three plus years of experience in Commercial Construction preferred.* Excellent editing, writing and communications skills.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)with strong Excel experience.* Ability to multitask and prioritize goals/deadlines related to the role.* Ability to to work independently and proactively.* Ability to interact and work collectively in a team environment.* Strong analytically and detail oriented* Highly approachable and displays a positive approach to both external and internal contacts.EOE/M/F/D/D
